NEWTOWN FRIENDS OF MUSIC THROWS A PARTY

Commemorating the 25-year-milestone of presenting exquisite music - superbly performed - at Edmond Town Hall, Newtown Friends of Music celebrated by throwing a gala party for all comers.

After the conclusion of the highly successful performance by the Quartetto di Venezia, which ended in a standing ovation, cake and champagne (well, let's be truthful, pretend champagne) were served in the Mary Hawley Room and in the lobby that was full to overflowing.

The beautiful Mary Hawley Room, which visitors to the Sunday concerts usually do not get to see, was festively and elegantly decorated with white table cloths, candles, spring colors of pink and yellow flowers as a center piece, pink and yellow balloons, matching plates and napkins, and there was enough delicious cake to feed an army.

Mrs Calla Sellner, who organized and chaired the gala reception, and her helpers, poured some three hundred glasses of bubbly, that even children were able to drink, and cut as many slices of cake; no one left hungry. Both the spirit and the body of the audience were well restored on a sunny Sunday afternoon, between snowstorms. Glowing with pleasure at just having heard some outstanding and not often performed music, the culminating concert of the 25th season, autograph seekers and well-wishers surrounded the artists. A grand time was had by all.
