Talich String Quartet

Particularly noted for its interpretations of the Czech composers (Smetana, Dvorak, Martinu, Janacek), the Talich Quartet was heralded as a "national treasure", and has won accolades for its subtle and elegant interpretations. Le Monde wrote: "The Talich Quartet was sublime".

Katia Skanavi, Pianist

Katia Skanavi's concert was postponed to Monday, February 13th at 12:00 noon due to the snow storm.

Russian Katia Skanavi, who won the Maria Callas Competition in 1994 and was a finalist in the '97 Van Cliburn Competition, was trained in Moscow, Paris and Cleveland. "Everything she did was a joy, and exactly the same can be said for her dashing performance of the Rachmaninoff-Paganini Rhapsody. It had marvelous momentum that dazzled …" from the Dallas Morning News.

Cavani String Quartet

The Cavani "held the audience spellbound" reports the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Newtown audiences were thoroughly enchanted and we are happy to have them back again. The Cavani will visit school children on March 13 in one of our much anticipated school outreach programs.

Biava Quartet

Praised as "an ensemble of unusual communicative powers" with a "sensitivity beyond its years," the Biava Quartet , winner of the 2003 Naumburg Chamber Music Award, has quickly established itself as one of the top young American quartets. Now at Yale University, its members are teaching assistants to the Tokyo Quartet. Together with guest Pavel Vannistky they will perform the Brahms Clarinet Quintet.
