September 17, 2006
Amelia Piano Trio

Anthea Kreston, violin
Jason Duckles, cello
Rieko Aizawa, piano

We saw them, we heard them, they appeared on Performance Today, and we read their Washington Post review, which quoted: "The Amelias make chamber music the way I like to hear it made: big, bold, direct, and un-self-conscious!" That is exactly the way we like it, too.

October 22, 2006
Parker String Quartet

Daniel Chong, violin
Karen Kim, violin
Jessica Bodner, viola
Kee-Hyun Kim, cello

Winners of the 2005 Concert Artist Guild Competition , and winner, 2005 Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition. The Washington Post had this to say: "…they propel the music irresistibly but with extraordinary grace and flexibility and, above all, they make sense of the music." They will work with our school children in the first of our two Outreach Programs on Monday morning

November 5, 2006
Soyeon Lee, Piano

Winner of the 2004 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, this young pianist is not only charming and talented, but a fantastic pianist with a lively imagination and a firm sense of style. You will fall in love with her.

February 11, 2007
Soo Bae, Cello
with Ying Chien Lin, Piano

Winner of the 2005 Concert Artist Guild International Competition, she is the first artist on her instrument in nine years to win the coveted award. "People everywhere need beauty in their lives - beautiful sounds and beautiful music. The cello makes the most beautiful sound of all. We must give this beauty to the world." So said Mstislav "Slava" Rostropovich and we fully agree.

March 11, 2007
Walden Chamber Players

Marianne Gedigian, flute
Irina Muresanu, violin
Christof Huebner, viola
Ashima Scripp, cello
Jonathan Bass, piano

For a little variety we asked for a flutist and got a great one.
We'll start and end the concert in E Major with Mozart and Schumann piano quartets, we'll also hear a Mozart flute quartet and lovely duos for viola and flute. The musicians will work with our Hugh School Students in the second of our two annual Outreach Programs.

April 29, 2007
St. Petersburg String Quartet
Alla Aranovskaya, violin
Alla Krolevich, violin
Boris Vayner, viola
Leonid Shukayev, cello

If you attended their last concert here in Newtown you already know what great performers these Russians are. Or read in The New York Times: " Flawless ensemble, stylish, supple, openhearted performances, insight and spiritual rapport …the St. Petersburg ennobles the music." We are so lucky to have them back. We will have to choose between Glazunov, Borodin, Shostakovitch and other fabulous Russian composers.
