Formed in 1999, the Amelia Piano Trio has quickly become one of their generation's most sought after ensembles and has received many distinctive awards, including the ASCAP award for Adventurous Programming and Grand Prize at the Yellow Springs National Competition. In 2003 it was invited by National Public Radio to be their Young Ensemble in Residence. It performed 15 century-spanning works for an estimated audience of 1.5 million. This October it will be featured on Chicago's WFMT in live performances of the complete Beethoven Trios. The Trio has performed extensively in North America and abroad, including France, Italy, Panama, and the Caribbean. Members of the Trio have toured the US and central Asia with Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Project. They record on the Cedille and the Traditional Crossroads labels. The Amelia Piano Trio is actively involved in arts education and has a passionate dedication to the next generation of musicians. They have their own summer chamber music workshop in Wisconsin, as well as a residency at Weber State University in Utah, where they started the chamber music program. They have also done award-winning work with AIDS Project Hartford. Violinist Anthea Kreston is a professor of violin and viola at Hartt School of Music, where she received her Master's Degree. She has received numerous awards for her chamber collaborations, including Top Prize at the Munich ARD International Chamber Music Competition. Jason Duckles has been a member of the Avalon String Quartet and he Aspen Contemporary Ensemble, and has appeared frequently as the cellist for the Mark Morris Dance Group. He can be heard on Sony, Channel Classics, Koch, and Cedille labels. Pianist Reiko Aizawa has performed throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe, including concerts at Tokyo's Casals Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Carnegie Hall. She is a graduate of the Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute where she was the last pupil of Mieczyslaw Horszowski. |
